just thinking the same Reg. Hate this time of year. I tend to cheer up a bit once we get the shortest day of the year over with. on the other hand, I slowly but surely, picking up from Vince, where the best pubs are in GdS. Now, all I am waiting for is Blyth to do a review of the restaurants and I'll be sorted for next summer

Most of the pubs and restaurants in GDS are in the top and bottom square at San Blas Dermo.
See map Here
although most of the big hotels have their own bar underneath.

Thanks Cam. I was looking at Vince's posts last night. He was in G ***** O'Donnells ( cant remember full name) and said it was dearer than the Wild Geese. I thought that prices should have been the other way round.
I think we will head into Los Cris/ Pdla for a few evenings (never been at night time). I'll have to meet up with whatever members are free then.

we're not really foodie restaurant people on holiday, more eating during the day and drinking during the night.
Had thought of using free bus to LC one day for an afternoon along la Vista but now thinking we'll probably not even get off GdS four days of sunbathing, going for walks bite to eat here and there and of course a few bevvies is appealing to us.

Grandee O'Donnells is the cheaper one but havent been to Geese to confirm, just what I was told. Not all the restaurants are in the square either, far more dotted around some hidden from view such as the one next door to Sundowners, just reopened but it is closed on a Wednesday so I still havent tried it yet. Do a lot of chicken Adeje style apparently if you like that sort of thing. Chickens roasting on a spit outside too, very cosmopolitan, well it was in 1970. I know the chef, G, used to be up in the square working with Slodgie. Will do a report in the near future, missing my phone.

Have i mentioned that my appartment is available from the 27th of December 2013 to the 3rd of January 2014, and it is at the end of that lovely beach, and its beside the swiming pool, and its wheelchair friendly, has aircon and flat screen TV's in the living room and bedroom,The Lone Ranger wrote:Looks nice out there today...
I could go on, and generally do, but its sunday a day of rest, I will be there in my compact and bijou appartment that overlooks that beach but my holiday will be ruined by having to walk past an empty appartment during that week, soo roll up and make an old man happy,
Book now or forever hold your piece , Do i sound desperate

Oh, mine is available for 4 weeks from 22nd Dec, apparently there is no availabilty on Green Park at all this year. Must be something to do with illegal letting! No aircon, not wheelchair friendly and an antique tele that does however show all your favourite Brit programs! On the first floor overlooking the swimming pool and my banana tree and rose bushes and cannabis plant. Shady in the afternoon so I dont have a coin operated aircon cos its not needed.....Please dont PM me, I'm waiting for the price to rise above Reggies.

I have alway's enjoyed a night at the Great Wall on the top square, the food is always 'quite' good and although the entertainment quality has degenerated the atmosphere is still good. I will be there next week so just watch the temperature drop!!.

It is a long time since we have been to the Great Wall we were talking about going again as the food was always good and then doing the quiz afterwards. Jo Cassidy who sings in the Top Square has a nice voice, also a nice lady.

Last time I was there (6th October) a singer called Steve Delsey?? was on all night and also hosted the quiz, there used to be a compere and a cabaret but me thinks cut backs have been made. It was still a pleasant night though and the food at the Great Wall was as good as ever, it has maintained it's consistency for several years now but it can be a little chilly during the winter months. One place I always visit is situated at the port corner of Las Vistas beach, it's called Chirringo Atlantica, I always go on a Sunday as they have a delightful 4 piece Canarian Band playing all night (7 till 10-30), they are all 'Old Muso's' like myself but they are very good guitarists and play some really good songs. The food is also excellent and very good value, I always have the rump steak (one always hears fables about places who serve BIG steaks but you need crocodile teeth to eat them) the steaks at Chirringo are VERY big but you can cut them with spoon take your false teeth out and chew 'em with your gums, and great value at 12 euros including vegies and pots. I will be there this Sunday and looking forward to it. If anyone does go you have to be carefull at 10-30 as there is a mad scramble of 15 or so mobility scooters tearing away, tis like the start of the Grand Pricks.
