Spectacular scenery.
Last night I was a bit bored so thought I would have a nosey on Google Earth. Got the whole Pacific Ocean on and zoomed into the middle bit where there are groups of Islands called French Polynesia. Click on the little cameras and you can see photos where peeps have uploaded them onto the site. Well, some of these photos are absolutely magnificent, the Earth is truly a beautiful place. I kept thinking what 17th century sailers must have thought when they stumbled across these places after months at sea. They must have thought they had found heaven. Go on, you know you want to...........

Re: Spectacular scenery.
Think about the doom and gloom brigade, the world is flat or the sea would fall off, bet some of those sailors were a bit worried after setting off.

Re: Spectacular scenery.
Nice one Reg. Its just next to the Wisbech channel in The Wash, I pass quite close to it on the way out and back. I think it was a failed plan to extract drinking water from the sea, from the 60s or 70s I think, Nationalisation at its worst then. Now an expensive home for seals and birds. Its right on the bombing range flightpath too. The planes have sat-nav now I guess but they still miss the target. Quite comical, if noisy, to watch. If you get too close they dont play. I feel safe though because if they miss a 300' target they aint gonna get my 30' boat are they?

Just up the river about half a mile there are two lighthouses on opposite sides of the river (Nene), Peter Scott the Naturalist used to live in one. Bit bleak there really.

Not Fort Boyard Reg. Dont think it even has a name. I'll give it one then, Folly One. Not too far away they are experimenting with a wave barrage to make electric, that can go on the list too.Mcqueen wrote:Was that thing on a tv programe where they had celebs doing silly things ? Nice, no litter. Are you sure thats not in Ireland? Looks like someones dumped some rocks in the ocean to make a harbour but failed to leave a gap for boats to get in and out.The Lone Ranger wrote:Here's the sea in North West Scotland at Oldshoremore...lovely innit.Perfectspecimen wrote:Looks like a green tit.
