We're all going on a summer holiday

Although we enjoy Tenerife for us it has mainly been a winter sunshine destination, our real love is for Mallorca. These days it is almost an automatic choice for us for our main holiday. We have spent many hours trawling the internet and assessing our options and have finally started booking things up.

The first problem is flights, costs and availability of direct flights from Aberdeen are so poor it makes it impossible to fly direct these days, indeed we couldn't get a flight from Aberdeen for a 3 week holiday. The next option is to fly from Glasgow or Edinburgh which adds to the cost and hassle. Even doing this flight prices are very expensive.

We finally decided to fly from Aberdeen Via Heathrow to Mallorca with BA which is cheaper and much quicker than travelling south to catch a flight. We also booked a car hire through BA at an unbelievably low rate.
We have also booked a small "Cassita" with a pool for the first 2 weeks. It is nice and secluded on the edge of the town of Soller but within a 10-15 minute walk into the town itself. So we need to decide where we are spending the third week which is proving tricky as we have an idea of what we want but just can't find a perfect match.

I'm in Dunfermline Hayzer, and I know what you mean about the flights. Edinburgh is my ideal choice but Glasgow usually has better times or cheaper prices. If it's only £100 or so difference though then I'll opt for Edinburgh as it's only a 20minute journey.

Sorry can´t help as I know nothing at all about Mallorca, never been but it is on my list for short hops. So would be interested to read what you get up to once your hols are over.

I like Majorca, some real nice bits

Were the same The Rock is winter sun and for is possibly at its best then 'far away from the madding crowd' pretty much guaranteed good weather,

We like Majorca many great family holidays in lovely Cala d'Or, had a great weekend in Santa Ponsa last May despite iffy weather love the Island.

But if a choice of summer holiday (June-September) would choose Turkey any time, really fallen for the place. Already booked to return to wonderful Dalyan 3rd year running same hotel same its family run and they give us the same room now real one big family feel to the entire holiday great atmosphere generated around the place pool bar is buzzing every time its like walking into your local.

Would they have 2 bed apartments in that hotel Blyth?

Cam aint Scottish, he could save a hundred quid............

Don´t take special time out of your hols, but if you want it would be good to read and appreciated.
