One of the members (Mark) on the Majorca Forum was replying to Hayzer and his 12 hour delay. He posted this which I think is brilliant:
"Thomsons don't have a leg to stand on. You are due €400 each. Technical issues are not extraordinary circumstances that let them off the hook.
This is the Regulation EU261/2004.
You are pretty close to going up into the next bracket for payment, based on the distance, I make ABZ - TFS 3428 km and the threshold is 3500
To initiate, you write to Thomsons at the Wigmore house address, and HERE is a template letter for you to use.
You may well get denied at first, they'll use the 'extraordinary circumstances' excuse, - it fobs well over 80% of people off, but there is a court of appeal case to be heard in May which will clarify things. Based on a ruling by Judge Platts in a case known as 'Huzar'.
Text of judgement Here.
There's more stuff if you want but that'll give you the jist of things.
