The Pope didn’t make it to Tenerife but for one Canarian family that didn’t matter.
Andrés is a four-year-old from Tenerife who is seriously ill and was in Madrid with his parents and siblings awaiting an operation at the time of the Pope’s visit there.
Last Friday when they were waiting to see Pope’s motorcade pass by, a volunteer became interested in Andrés’ story and arranged for the family to see Pope Benedict 16.
“His holiness actually put his hand on Andrés in a blessing” said the excited family “we hope this is a sign that he will make a full recovery”
