It is a very confusing place to walk round. The pathways lead to areas away from where you think you are headed. If you want to go to the church go to Abades end but it is quite a walk.

When we were in Crete on holiday we did a boat drip from where we were staying in Agios Nikolaos to the bay of Elounda for swimming in the crystal clear water before heading to Spinalonga a small island which was used as a leper colony. It had a very eerie and lonely atmosphere.

Fear not Dermot, if Val and I can take 6 weeks and enjoy every minute I'm quite sure you and the family will enjoy it as well, the only real disappointment for us was the bus service as it has gone to hell since last year ,the weather will be better in summer as well, OH almost forgot to mention there are some really nice people who live on the island as well  good
