We got there at 10:10am and even that early, we still had to queue for nearly an hour for the cable car. Prebooking ( and paying ) is only necessary at peak times i.e. when the queues are out the door and into the car park. We were brought to the prepaid window and then had to join the line in the waiting area inside the building. It made no difference to us whatsoever. By the time we came back down though, I reckon the queue was at least 2.5 hours long with a lot of that time stood in the blazing sun.

Finally at the viewing area. It takes 8 minutes to get from bottom to top in the cable car.

I have photos of the signs describing how the volcano was formed but they will come out too small on the forum to read so I'll leave them out altogether.
We got permission from the gobierno to access the very top. only @ 200 people a day are allowed up due to A. Environmental reasons and B. if something goes wrong, they cant get a helicopter near you.
This is where we are heading to

The going was tough, much harder and colder than when I did it 4 years ago. Even the kids struggled this time around. It got so bad that we ended up climbing for a minute and then resting for a minute ( 12500 feet, the air is pretty thin).
" />
Didn't take many photos on the climb due to fact that it was very rough.
" />
At last we get there!! We were told that we could only take an hour to get up to the top and back to the cable car station. It took us an hour just to climb to the peak!!
This is La Gomera peeping out of the clouds.
" />
Top crater. There is a smell of sulphur here, though not too strong. Either that or I was downwind of someone who let go!
" />
Sulphur vent. You can't see it too well here but it was a kind of yellow/green.
" />
The peak!
" />
" />
" />
Thats it. Got one final picture when we were driving home. Hard to believe that we were at the top 90 minutes previously.
