I don´t know anyone who has an ex-council house but surely the fact you have bought it gives you the right to sell. Or perhaps not!

Didn't know about that one, but have a friend who looked in to buying their council house, in the terms of the sale I recall two terms, which read something like this:-
If the house was to be sold within the first five years of purchase the council had first right to purchase at the same price they sold it for...
If the house was to be sold within five to ten years of purchase, again the council had first right to purchase, the price would be based on the average price rise of houses in the area since purchase, irrespective of any improvements made to the house...
So you've done a loft extension, put in central heating, new kitchen, bathroom, fully decorated, paved the drive and built on a garage,,, and it ain't worth a penny more...
Read the small print...

Wangled my way into a Council House in Loughton in 1984. Almost immediately applied to buy it and paid £13,800. Sold it 3 years later (minimum resale period at the time) for 58k. Thought that was a brilliant move at the time but its worth more now than the home I currently have.

Keep playing and hoping you get there, some do and some dont, I've had a few snakes

Talking of snakes it has come to my attention that the super strong Cider in plastic 2 litre bottles in Lidl works out even cheaper per alcohol unit than the friggin Sherry. Sadly they both contain sugar in large amounts which may just finish me off quicker than liver disease but WTF? Actually the Cider contains sugar AND sweetener so maybe its not so bad??????????????????? Snake Bite.

I'm in an ex-council flat. Cost me about £10k. I don't intend selling...I'd have to buy another one.
