This query came up on Tripadvisor. Are they valid for 12 months from date of purchase or date of first use?

I said that D but as you know I have never been on a bus, I just knew it was 12 months and said from purchase as I didn´t think anyone would buy one and then stick it in their wallet without using it

Re: How Long Is a Bono Card Valid For?
That still doesn't tell you when its valid from ( or did I miss something?). It just says valid for one year, doesn't say 1 year from purchase or 1 year from first use.The Lone Ranger wrote:Bono card details...

If I was a betting man, and as an ex auditor in Dublin Bus, I would bet that it is from date of purchase

Re: How Long Is a Bono Card Valid For?
But when you purchase them I don't recall seeing the vendor swipe it or scan it to activate it, so my guess is that the first time it is used it registers the date...

Re: How Long Is a Bono Card Valid For?
As I always use the bus it is one year from first use as Vince will confirm. How can they prove when the date of purchase is when you buy it from somewhere like Spanish Style and it is just peeled off the bundle which could have laid in the drawer for days? It is not validate in any way until it is used the first time on the bus and the year starts from then.

Always found it a pretty good service and certainly cheap, I will save the money and use it on beer. Rather be a peasant than a snob.

Taken from the faq on the Titsa web site
Do travel cards expire?
Yes. The travel card is valid for one year from the moment it is first used.

He has clearly got too much time on his hands, perhaps he should become a moderator, or maybe a lollipop man.
