I wanted to go to this gig last night but I couldn't get tickets. 4 of my mates were at it. Look at the wee lad bottom right @ 15 seconds in. He can't be more than 6! Angus gives him a "hat tip" @ 4:15 in.

Had never heard this song before until Dermo posted it, loved it but was a bit confused by the words,,, was the guy on something when he wrote it,,, googled around a bit and came up with Christy Moore and some other guy singing it, (Demo informs me it's the guy who wrote it), so I start looking at the words and chords, I'm thinking its some sort of love song,,, then I realise, feck, it's all about Jesus,,, I tell Dermo this, he laughs, he'd thought the same until he worked it out... Anyway we get to the Times, first song we request, yip, Bright Blue Rose,, think Dermo knew every word,,, Hallelujah...
That's me and Dermo in the Times,,, or was it this...
Can't remember, honest,,, Hic.

I thought it was all about Jesus too! Cracking wee song whatever it means!
Who's in the Times now? I heard Derek was going back, but he can't sing to save himself so who's the vocalist?

Re: The Al Jay Music Thread
Here's Christy Moore's thoughts..."This Jimmy Mack classic is about whatever its about – I say this here only because I am so often asked the question. I have no idea nor do I wish to know what it is about for the author. My own interpretation is too valuable to me to have the song drawn away from my perception. Singing this song is nearly always special, nearly always a spiritual experience, especially on those nights when the room goes still and the listeners join in quietly, each of us getting in touch with our own stories and emotions. He truly is a master of song, a maker of beauty – he has been given the gift." A perfect interpretation...
