Tourist Numbers Double In Ten Years

I'd take a lot of their figures with a huge dose of salt. It was obviously written by someone in the hotel industry.

e.g. "Of this, proving the island authorities’ decision to opt for 5-star tourism to have been correct, a significant amount, especially in terms of tourist spending, came from luxury tourists."

also, "The typical luxury holidaying couple is around 49-years-old.  They spend on average €202 each during their stay, compared with the standard €113, meaning they spend around 79 per cent more, but they do tend to be less active than other tourists." i don't know about anyone else, but we spend @180 euro a day between the 5 of us. According to the article, a couple in luxury accommodation spends €202 during their entire stay??? With spending like that no wonder local businesses go bust.

5* tourists may have doubled, all inclusive. The rest is as dead as a dodo. Time for Tenerife and the airlines/holiday companys to cut prices and attract the working class. Or else its doomed. 

You only have to see the amount of places closing to know its crap, yes Safari centre at present, no more as the new shopping centre and the road works will ruin it. Entertainment bars used to turn people away, now they have chucker ins.
