    We went to a threshing show last week that was in aid on the local oncology unit. The thresher itself has no engine and is run solely on the very long belt you can see between it and the tractor. For those of you who aren't familiar, its a bloody dangerous machine. The 2 men in the first video are the owners. Please note how many hands one of them has.

    Used to love watching the terriers get all the rats that were under the haystacks as the last stooks were fed into the thresher...

    My mums side of the family farming, as a kid can just remember big threshing machine with long belt from a tractor working it, even as a kid I was amazed how that belt stayed on...

    Meant to say it was like the big box thing on your video, could pin point on a map where it happened every year when I was a kid, forty miles due south of Edinburgh it was, feckin thing scared the shit out on me the noise and the belt flapping everywhere it did, it was a big few days on the farm cos it was rented in to do the job, bit Darling Buds Of May it was...

    Yeah, the belt was weird, it never had a flange or anything like a railway line to stop it sliding off but it always seemed to stay on!
