They have introduced gender quotas for the next general election over here 30% of candidates must be women. It's wrong. You are going to dilute the quality of candidate doing that. Women will be nominated for being a woman, not on her abilities, while male counterparts who are better qualified won't get a look in. Even the current female TD's ( MP'S) think its a bad idea. There are far more many men interested in politics than women ( head for head). It stands to reason that there should be more men standing for election than women. BTW, I'm not anti women TD's, far from it, I think the current ones that we have are far superior than the vast majority of their male colleagues. Just get elected on your own merits not because of what sex you are.
