Jeez, thought I was the only house left in UK with fuse wire! I do have a new modern box somewhere waiting for me to install it but its not near the top of the to do list............. So Cam, your shower is on the 5amp lights circuit???? Jeez. Good morning then. The Lone Ranger wrote:Morning members...went for a shower, Mermaid switched on the living room lights and we were plunged into darkness. Fuse wire blown in meter cupboard innit.

Strange place for a shower, the meter cupboard, no wonder the fuse went

Evening all. Eileen had my van all day as I was in the hospital with Shona. Went to collect Darragh from athletics this evening. Hopped in my van and lo and behold, there is a whistling noise under acceleration. Also, the engine management warning light came on after ten minutes. Also, it wont rev too high? Anyone any ideas? The feckin van was perfect last night when I had it last

Sounds like the engine management system has gone into "limp home mode". Get a garage or A.A. type person to take the fault off and reset it. If it comes on again, you've got a problem.

I'm Yip, that's the problem with with new vehicles, no laptop or computer to plug them in to and your fecked,,, German company below was placing an order for 800 trucks, was moving in to Eastern Europe market big style a few years back, wanted basic modern reliable trucks without all the electronic gismos that we've got to have to meet EU legislation, just something that someone with a spanner could fix at the roadside,,, Mercedes were the only major European manufacture prepaired to quote, so got the business...
A couple of years later Oor Willi thought he was above the law so was dodging EU tachograph rules left right and center with their EU operations, German transport authorities took them to the cleaners big style, almost put them out of business...
So bottom line, like Willi your fecked...

Dermo, try restarting the van and see if the engine management light comes on again. Sometimes the slightest thing can cause them to come on. I wouldn't recommend driving for long in limp mode though.

Disconect the battery, make sure you have the radio code,,, Leave as long as you can, ten minute minimum, reconnect and see what happens...
Oh, make sure water oil etc are all are at correct level befor trying...

Morningall. HAd a look at the van this morning in the daylight. A pipe had disconnected from the turbo ( I think). I reconnected it and tied it on with a cable tie. Hopefully, thats it. It sounds normal now anyway!

For the last while, I've been blowing carbon out the exhaust by giving it welly every morning. Reckon I might have overdone it!. Also found out that the Vito doesn't rev over 3000rpm when stationary. That explains why I thought it was in "limp mode"
