My brother launched his driver once after topping the ball. The feckin club flew farther than the ball but got stuck up a horse chestnut tree. It was fully grown and those things dont have branches near the ground. He had to go home and tell my dad what happened and then they had to borrow a ladder and drive out onto the golf course to get it back. He hasn't lived it down since!

Have never ever paid to play golf but I would get invited to various corporate golf days through my job, for years I turned these invites down but one company insisted I come even offered to rent clubs for me, so I accepted the invite but bought a cheap set of second hand clubs and went out to a golf range a few times before the event so I could practice hitting the ball, after this event I started accepting more invites, well a day off work on pay, free food and drink should have done it years ago...
I'm at one of these events, I'm in a group of four doing the round, I knew one lad from the company holding the event the other two were strangers, one of them was an absolute pain in the arse golf snob,,, quoting this rule and that rule, saying he felt he had a good chance of winning the event, commenting on everyone else's play etc, etc,,, the other three of us were sick of him, we just wanted an enjoyable day out...
On one of the holes there was a prize for the longest drive, he again before we tee off is saying things like "I should have this one in the bag",,, I tee off first, to my amazement I take the lead in the contest (didn't win it though), bullshitter takes his shot, absolutely fluffed it,,, the other three of us doing all we could to try and hide the fact we were cracking up... Then near the end of the round he misses a short put,,, he lost it, club flying through the air, bag getting kicked everywhere,,, we all openly lost it this time,,, this from the the guy who earlier was ramming golf etiquette down our throats, he didn't even think I should have been allowed to play as I didn't have an official handcap,,, twat...
Boy did the other three of us enjoy ourselfs in the nineteenth hole reminissing over his antics...
