I recall one of the first stories I told on here, during the war my dad was in the merchant navy, torpedoed twice, in his late seventies I am up from Manchester visiting him in Edinburgh, he says I've read there are a couple of German subs in Leith docks I'd like to go have a look,,, so down the dock we go, one of the subs was open for viewing so on board we go, we do tour of sub, then my dads got to get up the vertical ladder we'd went down inside it, what a struggle, we get in car, he says something like "wouldn't have wanted to be one of them poor bas#tards in something like that during the war",,, yet they had almost killed him twice...
