    Silverfox Newbie Empty Silverfox Newbie

    Post by Silverfox67 Sat 27 May 2017 - 15:05

    Hi all

A quick hello after joining the forum recently.  We have just found a lovely place in Armarilla golf which we will complete the sale at the end of this month.  Needs a clear out of some of the furniture and bit of TLC to bring it up to a good standard, including skimming the walls and ceilings.  Once finished we hope to split our time between Tenerife and the UK.

Hobbies include a little bit of golf,  plenty of property developing and as much power boating as we can manage around Tenerife.  My wife loves gardening and looking forward to growing some exotic plants.

We have just sold our place in Cyprus after spending almost 23 years living there part time.

We are shipping our LHD car and boat from there once we get sorted.  So if you have any advice about registering the car and boat or mooring advice I would appreciate your comments.  We would also appreciate some advice on buying a new bathroom suite from somewhere around Las Chafiras or Santa Cruise.

Many thanks for looking and look forward to plenty of helpful adviceSilverfox Newbie 4226408756

Best advice I can give you is don't listen to anything Vince (Perfectspecimen on the forum) say  about cars or boats, he's got a collection of them, all broken, they were ok when he bought them, but then he tries fix them...

We had a house on the east coast of Cyprus in a small village called Freneros.  Very handy for the border crossing into the North and also the nightlife of Protaras & Aiya Nappa

We fancied a change of scenery after 23 years

I know exactly what you mean by red tape after spending 23 years in Cyprus & having to deal with red tape at every turn.  We normally got round it by paying someone to do the paperwork for us and stand in the long queues.  Saves a lot of time & stress all round

If you need that person to do it for you the I would recommend Diana McGlone.

There are naturally plenty of others, but Diana is the only one I would recommend, professional and doesn´t rip you off, everything she says she will do she does.

Others, well they seem to get as many bad comments as they do good.

At least with Diana you can email her and she will tell you what to do, she doesn´t insist that it is too difficult and then say I can do that for €150.  If you can do it she will tell you how, if you feel you can't or don't want to then she will do it for you at a very reasonable feel.

Bought house, it's two/three years old, I go Los Cris town hall with someone who spoke Spanish from estate agents to set up payment in my name for rubbish collection which had been happening since  appartments was built, wait our turn to go to counter, I could tell conversation was going tits up for some reason, turns out property does not exist on their computer, I say it does I'm living in it, but computer says no, they listen to story and ask for 2/3 years rubbish payment, I say no I've just bought the place, took months to fix out...

    Post by Silverfox67 Mon 29 May 2017 - 13:38

Thanks all for your very helpful comments and advice.

Gypsy: What sort of things does Diana specialise in and do you have any contact details?  e.g. Would she be able to deal with car imports, inspection and registration?

    Silverfox Newbie Empty Horror stories

    Post by Silverfox67 Mon 29 May 2017 - 13:43

There are plenty of horror stories from Cyprus.  Many people have paid cash for properties and years later are still waiting for title deeds.  10-15 years is quite quick for them.

Then they find that the developer has taken out a mortgage on the land, gone bust and cannot pay the mortgage.  Banks put a memo on the properties, meaning that they cant get their title deeds until the owners pay off a proportion of the developers debt.  That's the tip of the iceberg
