To unlock the keyboard and move it to a new location, tap and hold the button at the far bottom right of the screen, which has a keyboard symbol on it. Two options will appear, dock and Split. Press the dock button

How about this..."The iPad keyboard can also be moved up and down the screen. To do this you just tap and hold on the Hide Keyboard key and drag it to where you'd like it placed. You can move the keyboard around like this when it is split and when it is merged back together."
