I'm not sure of the name of the company that does it, but yes, someone takes the bikes and you up and you can freewheel down. Adam Mint, you've done this can you remember the name of the company that took you up?

Best bet is to ask at any of the excursion booths and they will point you in the right direction. Welcome to the forum BTW. Have fun!

Done it twice, there's a company that do it link below, but I didnt want organised event, so did it once on my own when I lived out there and had own bike, second time when on holiday, we had bikes on hire, there's one TITSA bus that leaves Playa Las America's bus station about 8 o'clock, you put bike in luggage area, bus takes over a hour to get up Tiede to cable car area, nice four or five kilometers down hill and flat cycle then a seven km climb , I walked that bit both times, about a hour, so if you want it easy get off at the Picnic Area, all down hill from there,,, lovely places to stop for a beer food on way down, check weather before you do it, I got good days but descending you still need jeans and sweatshirt for descending through cloud, have them in rucksack, but most of time just shorts, do it independent, we took a picknik and had it at picnic area on way down, plus dropped in at watering holes (bars) on way down, do it, enjoy, the views are unreal if you pick a clear day.

I might try the rafting bike first just to get a feel for the slope, I'm hiring a bike out there so can always go again if I enjoy and fancy a bit more speed!!

Re: downhill from teide
Suspect Rafting Company won't make you do the 7k climb, it's no fun, first time I done it I was on own bike, I had a speedo/mileometer on it, from cable car base to Los Cristiano's was 36 miles, after the early climb you don't even need to touch the pedals, all downhill, I'm a bit of a speed freak but I was braking the bike, I recall seeing 36 MPH on the speedo freewheeling,,, reason I was breaking, potholes, if I'd hit one of them and went over the side that would have been it, I was on my own... Second time I done it on hire bikes with girlfriend, we started the downhill bit, she was slow so I just done my thing and thrashed it down to first watering hole, got drinks in and she still wasn't there, she arrives, I could see a moan about to be delivered, thought it either gonna be about leaving her or the bike saddle giving her a sore ass that she'd moaned about since hiring bike,,, but I was wrong, she holds up her hands, her fingers are bright red with the pressure she'd been putting on the brake levers,,, Enjoy...
