A third of unemployed are criminals.

According to the Telegraph 33% of unemployed people claiming benefits have a criminal record. Now, can they not get a job because they are criminals or did they turn to crime because they couldn't get a job? Chicken and egg syndrome methinks. I think crime rates (theft, especially) will soar in the next few years as the cuts deepen and more people lose their jobs.

How does that compare to the general public / conviction split as a comparison ?

It would be nice to know just as a yard stick to see how high/low a figure is is

Flip the coin over and it means 66% aren't criminals...statistics innit

But if the percentage is 2% crims /98% general public then 26% is extremely high but if is 50/50 then it's very low.

They are far too busy for jobs have a heart people.

Just look at the percentage of MPs who quite happily let clearly bogus expenses claims walk through the system.........
