Jan is watching one born every minute.
A lady of 40 is disabled with some obvious brain damage. The initial feelings are should she be having a baby as it could be inherited. The lady is brain damaged though through being run over as a child. Easy to judge on first impressions.

If she was on her own I would say no because the child would suffer having nobody to look after, teach, etc if there is a responsible partner, and I would assume the partner is responsible if they have decided to have a child and he is prepared to spend the amount of time needed to bring up a child along with support from health and social professionals, as well as family then who are we to say they should not have the pleasure of a family.

Not having seen the programme it is difficult to comment so mine is based purely on your statement. However if the brain damage was sustained due to an accident then that is unfortunate but there is no risk of it being inherited.

NO, my point exactly, wonder how many people first off will say she shouldn't have a baby because she will pass on her problems, but obviously she won't. She has had the baby and they went on to 7 weeks after birth and she was doing the feeds and changes as well as her partner.

Would she be treated differently if she had a genetic disability? I don't know. If a couple with down syndrome have a child, is the child at greater risk of being born with the same condition?

Isn't downs something to do with an extra chromesone, so most likely YES. It is due to Trisomy 21 where a mother has 47 instead of 46 Chromesones and the 21st (extra) causes a different growth pattern.
