    A Civil Guard officer was killed on Thursday when he was hit by a car after stopping to help another driver on the A-31 from Alicante to Madrid. He was hit by a car whose driver had failed to see the officer at the side of the road.

    The tragic accident caused tailbacks of 2 kilometres on the motorway.
