I love this bar, and like the post on TF think the music is some of the best around. Old Dogs do a little bit of everything for us. While I think you all know my connection with Traveller, but I am amazed at the comment that said the staff were anything but welcoming. I can only say my experience is totally the opposite and I am wondering if Route 66 is being confused with another bar as it never used to open in the afternoons.

Re: Route 66
I should have said early evenings. Think they used to open @ 5pm. And in fairness to the staff, it was only one knobhead that I had trouble with. I don't know who he was, but i rarely saw him pulling pints, he was usually on the outside of the bar.

Juan, the manager, looks like Alessandro the Meerkat. He's my mate but he can be a bit off if the boss is around - He's the guy with the Harley so nuff said - only old women ride Harleys.

There is a new kind of Rock Pub opened in L/C?
I'm talking about that one.
Any Ideas?

If it is then it's in San Telmo but they haven´t posted anything on their facebook since before Christmas so it may have closed

I suppose Telmo is Los Cris really so may well be the one. I am sure it was open late October.

Route 66 - Puerto Santiago
After saying they were closing for the weekend for a refurb (even I who know nothing about building thought it would be longer - been 2 weeks!!) my favourite bar in the area re-opens on Saturday night with a party to celebrate. Always good music, Saturdays my mates Traveller Blues and Sun through Thursday Bob & Jill, Old dogs new Tricks.

Will pay a visit next week Gypsy. Is the same guy ( that was there 2 years ago) still managing the place?

Re: Route 66
It belongs to Damien, and the manager is Juan (looks like a meerkat) so probably.

Re: Route 66
Went to Route 66 last night for a catch up with Bob & Jill before we leave the island. Shock horror! Juan the manager is no longer employed here. I have naturally heard the complaints about him but in fairness he has never tried to rip me off, has always been friendly and funny and one year even invited me to his home so I could watch the Alcala fireworks in comfort rather than have to fight the scrum.
The bar did seem to be doing a roaring trade last night, everyone was in good humour despite Saheed (now manager) and Cairo looking tired and hungry (being Ramadan) so I hope these two boys keep up the good work - I am sure they will as they are nice lads.
Noticed they had introduced hookahs so this is something to try when we next go. (Reg/Vince/Howard - not what you think but these

Hmmm, cool smoke innit. Not tried them. Howard knows a bit about hookers, he likes rugby too.
