I remember I was down in the local golf club as a 15 year old. The bar was very busy as it was a beautiful hot summers day. Some of us "youngsters" were watching Live Aid on the telly. This video came on introduced by David Bowie. There must have been 70 people in the bar. The place went deathly quiet. I can still remember hearing a dog bark nearby. At the end of the video, I was crying. I turned around and not one dry eye in the place

Re: Live Aid 1985
I was on holiday with Mermaid in North West Scotland sitting in the Dundonnel Hotel. We had our 1 year old daughter "Mischief Maker" who was being looked after by my mum in our rented caravan. My mum has sadly passed away now. I remember we were watching on TV and it was dark down in London, yet it was still bright daylight up in Scotland. I was 30 years old then. Mermaid would be 2 months pregnant with our second daughter then.
Ah, memories....

Re: Live Aid 1985
Remeber it well no video machines in those days so watched it all live as it happened. Had bought a multi pack of TDK tapes and recorded it all on hifi (still have them now).
Had seen U2 live weeks earlier and they did there Live Aid set then, remember thinking that's what we saw at Milton Keynes.

Re: Live Aid 1985
I had a flat in Hove, top floor and we had a roof garden. We (group of us) rented a big tv, think it was 26 in (big in those days) and put a mates speakers up top which he hooked in to a tuner and we had a 16 hour party. Every one that came had to bring copious amounts of alcohol and we then charged everyone a quid a drink to go to Live Aid, some chucked a bit more in but we raised a fair amount. Brilliant day, highlites for me U2 as I was already a big fan, Queen just sensational, the who, Bowie outstanding and lets not forget The Boomtown rats at the point where Bob said "the lesson today is to learn how to die". Thompson Twins in USA with Madonna giving vocals.
So many good artists, I liked Simple Minds but feel they were very weak at Live aid. I have the 4 dvd box set and put it on often.
