hello everybody, my names hannah. we are coming to tenerife in may. the last time was 13 years ago. i know because it was our 1st ever holiday. we were so thrilled to go on a plane for the 1st time. we stayed in a block of flats in los christianos. my daughter friend arranged it. unfortunately i cant remember the name of the flats ,it was a private lent. we have booked a weeks holiday at the gran oasis, through thomas cook. its all inclusive. my friends tell me that you can buy nice jewellery. recommend good places to buy please---hannah

My wife buys some nice costume bits from a shop in the upper level of the old Torvisca's market.
If it is Gold and Silver items there are many discounted shops but haggle the price and shop around.
Let us know what sort of Jewellery you are after.
Tell us a bit more about yourself and what you like in a Holiday and I am sure many can give you some great advice.
Tenerife has changed a lot in 13 years and many places you may have seen before, will be very different.

. well one things for sure you ought to stay well clear of them patel shops, they will rob you and stare you in the face.

Hiya, Hannah. Have a wee look at this map, I've put your hotel on it with a couple of places that will sell decent jewellery.
Los Cristianos/Playa De Las Americas
If you zoom out you will see I have pinpointed The Safari Centre, Parque Santiago III shopping centre, Plaza Playa Del Duque and The Arona Gran hotel.

Yes SORRY Hannah, will you be staying in the hotel or doing what many do which is have a lot of drink at all Inclusive and then sample other night life.

There is a place in Los Gigantes called Carlos something or other ( Gypsy might know ) that is a top quality jeweller. I'll see can I find it on Google Earth and report back

Steer well clear of the asian shops selling electronic equipment and watches..they will rip you off!!!! There are nice jewelry shops in the Safari Centre , between Los Cris and Las Americas...but haggle, they will drop their price. I hope have a nice holiday, beware of pick pockets xx

Welcome Hannah I hope you haven´t been put off posting. They are so used to talking to themselves they forget how to behave when a lady is present.
Gran Oasis, looks nice and while it is a bit out of town you can easily get to either Los Cris or Las Americas.
Jewellery, must admit I'm a cheap date, I generally buy from the looky looky men for everyday stuff because I can change it to match whatever I am wearing (leave the good stuff at home for when I am going somewhere special). There is a nice shop on the Mirador strip where Cru and I went one day, they have all sorts of things in there and as you get to the back of the shop loads of jewellery.
If it was me they would be deleted but I don't have time today to do it.

thanks for your replies. we will visit a lot of pubs , that have entertainment.every holiday i buy jewellery. its either gold or silver.hubby always coughs up.if we go for a 1 week holiday, we find that there is better value, in all incl. this is only our opinion, others will like other options-hannah

Will you be hiring a car Hannah? If so, there are a couple of placces in Puerto de la Cruz that I've heard are good for jewelery at a reasonable price. I have the names somewhere, i'll try to find them and post later

I received a PM this week (not from this forum I hasten to add) accusing me of being on commission as I always recommend Tenerife Sunshine [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] If only, I would be rich by now, but I honestly think they are one of the best on the island. If you go on their website they offer discounts to the prices they sell in the shops and if you are unsure about whether anything is suitable or not for your needs you can chat live to the girls online. They really do offer an excellent service and while I am not saying any other excursion shop may be the least bit dodgy, these guys have been around for approx 15 years so are going nowhere.
