I drove up the side of the mountain to get a photo of the beach from up high. I decided to take a little walk and the next thing I knew I was at the bottom and had to go all the way back up again. If you look carefully, you'll see my van parked near the top

This is Killorglin, the town where my dad's house is. It is home to the famous "Puck Fair". The photos below explain a bit about it.

"Puck Fair" is held every August. It will attract 250000 visitors over the 3 days from all over the world. The "Puck" is a wild goat captured off the mountains every year. He will be the "king" of the fair. The photos below explain a little more

All them posh twats blasting away on the 12th. That pheasant is safer in Kerry than Scotland on that date!

Meant to ask Dermo, is "Fungi" dead? He was in Dingle Bay for a lot of years. Oh! And I seem to remember when I was in Kerry there were thousands of fuschia hedges. When do those start flowering? Photos from Kerry 294053457

No ethnics whatsoever. The nearest mosque is 70 miles away. In fact, I didn't see any coloured people whatsoever in the 9 days there. ( Not even a traveller! Photos from Kerry 2761542443

Plenty of trawlers Vince, feck all marinas. The nearest yachting club would be Tralee about 20 miles away.

The "Puck" is the alpha male goat Cam. It comes from "pocán" which is Irish for a "billy goat" ( apparently)

Fungi is still alive Cam, though I'm suspicious that the locals have replaced the original one to keep the tourists coming in! The fuschias will start flowering late May/early June as far as I can remember though it might be early this year considering the exceptionally mild winter we had over here. Its some sight travelling mile after mile with those hedges either side of the road

Nah, I meant the Irish at the bottom of the plaque "Ri na gcnoc go deo", first 3 words look like "king of the hill"?

I took 10 cuttings about 4 years ago and just stuck them in some compost. I now have 8 big fuschia plants that survived two of the worst winters we had on record. I can send you a few cuttings if you want.

I was at that "puck Fair" last August. It was brilliant. Fairgounds, market stalls, artist workshops, Jazz & Blues bands. Folk Musicians and a "big" act on stage every evening. Last year, they had a bit of Motown and the Drifters were the main attraction. They also had "Sean Nos " Irish dancing ( the old style, not the Michael Flatley stuff), puppets, face painting, acrobats, flame throwers and a huge fireworks display off the old railway bridge to finish. The pubs opened from 10am to 3am ( officially) and I can honestly say I didn't see any trouble. Mind you, it took me a week to recover
