Thank you for the space TD. I didn´t know if this was a dog free zone or not
I was amazed to learn that K9 need almost €4000 a month to provide food and shelter for the abandoned dogs on the island. They are by no means the largest animal charity but they are my favourite so I try to do a little to help towards these costs.
Accion del Sol is the charity to aspire to - they get much needed help from Germany and Live Arico while having a huge numbers of dogs to look after, also have a large network of people working for them. Therefore I support the small guys doing the very best they possibly can.
As many know I spend a couple of hours each month on a Sunday (not every week) outside Nancy Spain's restaurant. I started off with second-hand books of which I now have several very large boxes in my garage and then K9 gave me some t-shirts @ €5 each these are nice, some baseball caps €5 each which personally I don´t like and find them expensive as caps in the tourist shops can be bought for around €3.
I have hand-made cards at various prices, fridge magnets and some lovely ball-point pens. I was told to sell these for €1.50 but out of the 10 I was given I have sold 9 at €2 each and think they are worth it. So collected a further 10 this morning.
It is hard work prizing money out of people in this climate, but I am hopeful that when the 'swallows' arrive they will be good customers.
If any of the regular forum members are on holiday and don´t want to waste your luggage allowance on carrying books, do please drop me a PM and we can meet up and you take your pick. The books which cover all subjects (even some in German) are €1 each or 3 for €2.
Thanks again for the space TD. I will add fund raising events as I hear of them.
