Queenies Book Stall Empty K9 upcoming Charity Events

    Post by Guest Tue 30 Aug 2011 - 18:02

Thank you for the space TD. I didn´t know if this was a dog free zone or not animal

I was amazed to learn that K9 need almost €4000 a month to provide food and shelter for the abandoned dogs on the island. They are by no means the largest animal charity but they are my favourite so I try to do a little to help towards these costs.

Accion del Sol is the charity to aspire to - they get much needed help from Germany and Live Arico while having a huge numbers of dogs to look after, also have a large network of people working for them. Therefore I support the small guys doing the very best they possibly can.

As many know I spend a couple of hours each month on a Sunday (not every week) outside Nancy Spain's restaurant. I started off with second-hand books of which I now have several very large boxes in my garage and then K9 gave me some t-shirts @ €5 each these are nice, some baseball caps €5 each which personally I don´t like and find them expensive as caps in the tourist shops can be bought for around €3.

I have hand-made cards at various prices, fridge magnets and some lovely ball-point pens. I was told to sell these for €1.50 but out of the 10 I was given I have sold 9 at €2 each and think they are worth it. So collected a further 10 this morning.

It is hard work prizing money out of people in this climate, but I am hopeful that when the 'swallows' arrive they will be good customers.

If any of the regular forum members are on holiday and don´t want to waste your luggage allowance on carrying books, do please drop me a PM and we can meet up and you take your pick. The books which cover all subjects (even some in German) are €1 each or 3 for €2.

Thanks again for the space TD. I will add fund raising events as I hear of them. animal animal

And indeed if anyone is going to tenerife and has space on the outbound allowance, how about taking a few books or C.D's over for Queenie to sell.

No as TOPDOG it is not totally dog free, but as we an argument free zone, we don't have the bickering of those that do and those that don't.

Queenie, can you perhaps give a list of fun days you are involved in as many people could perhaps pop along and support you but also put face to a name. I did last year and the face even smiled back. Took me money and kept me prize, not really I give it back as it was only a case of vintage champagne.

Honestly though people great events and some fabulous acts and stalls. There is also usually booze involved, which is helpful.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] would like to wish you luck.

I met a lot of people that day, Al Jay, Mr & Mrs Ben, plus your good self, I have visions of a pony tail was I dreaming - I often do :Big Smile:

It is hard to give listings of what K9 are planning because they don´t have the same network as other charities.

The next one was scheduled for 17th September which was to be at Olivers Restaurant in Los Cristianos, but Mikey received an email yesterday saying >>>It is with regret that I have to inform you that as of today I made the decision to close Oliver's down in its current location.<<<

so we are now looking for a new location. At the moment we are chasing both the Heritage Bar in Los Cris and Hemingways at San Eugenio.

You were not dreaming, very well remembered....have you thought of perhaps the corner bar at Parque de la Paz, large open area.
