The Amish, who are based in Northern New York State are in the middle of a fight with the US authorities over whether it is right or wrong to fit smoke alarms in their buildings. The feds quote H&S regulations but the Amish refuse saying they will smell it (the smoke) with their noses. If not, and everyone dies, it's all part of God's great plan...BBC News
