Re: Ducks
I love ducks, but don´t give them too much bread like us humans it only makes them fat, and what they leave encourages rats to the area.
Feed them some oats, grapes or birdseed, they even like peas Have a lovely day.

It's just relaxing absorbing yourself with nature. I bet you give a horse or donkey some grass if it's standing at a fence when you're passing. I do! Can't help it...

Me too. Pulled up today to watch a hawk hovering above, suddenly swooped, great.

Cannae beat it Kev! You know though, I still haven't seen a "live" Kingfisher. Seen plenty on tv but never a live one. It must be where I live 'cos when we were young we used to walk down the banks of streams for hours, tickling trout (we called it "guddling"), bird nesting, stop for an hour or so and make a "camp" out of the farmer's hay bales and generally having a whale of a time. But never any Kingfishers! Plenty Sand Martins, Swallows, Ducks, Coots, Moorhens, Herons etc but no feckin' Kingfishers...weird that.

My sons shared a flat on a place known as the widewater. Smelly lake really but a bird paradise, loads there. The Lone Ranger wrote:Topdog wrote:Me too. Pulled up today to watch a hawk hovering above, suddenly swooped, great.

I love Kingfishers Cam, don't know which ones you get in uk but we used to have many. One of my favourites is the Malachite Kingfisher. I must say, I've never seen a hedgehog though...

Re: Ducks
Your second piccy... nice sandy bank for the Kingfisher to nest it. That's what's strange, we had hundreds of Sand Martins who nest in the same sort of stuff but no Kingfishers.

Re: Ducks
I have only ever seen 1 kingfisher and was surprised at how tiny it was about the size of a sparrow. Photos always make them look bigger.
I like hedgehogs too

Nice one Kev. No bloody wonder I don't see them! They're rarer than hen's teeth up here! River Isla's a beautiful river, runs into the Tay just above Perth. Might have a look there some time.

When the nights get longer and I have my outside floodlight on, we often see a hedgehog walking over our lawn looking for worms and stuff. They're quite tame too, only roll into a ball if you actually try to pick them up. (I like your hedgehog Gypsy, it's a beauty!)

Re: Ducks
My mum had a blind hedgehog for years, nested in her garden and bred.
I have a photo somewhere of our old fella, Barney guarding a Mother and Baby hedgehog, whilst they fed.
