    I keep on losing threads where someone has been helpful enough to give me advice or directions and I can never find them again. Is there any way of bookmarking our favourite threads?

    Yeah, you can bookmark them in your browser. Click on a thread you want kept to open it then just bookmark it as you would a normal website.
