New Tax On Flights To Spain

Apparently the Spanish Government has introduced a new tax of up to 7 Euros per head on all flights to Spain as part of it's austerity measures.

This is payable whether you have already paid in full in advance or not.

Some airlines are still deciding whether or not to pass this charge on to customers who have already paid, bu some are contacting these customers to say that they have a choice of paying it or cancelling the flight.

Great tourist booster by the Government ??

Not sure people will notice that much as flight prices fluctuate so much.

I got hit with an e-mail telling me although I have paid
months ago for our flights to Majorky,
Ryanfuginair are going to charge me extra!

Not Ryanairs fault though is it. Blame the Spanish government. And try not to do any extreme sports.

I got the same email from Ryanair. They made 445 million in the first half of this year. Would it kill them to take the hit? You never know, they might get some pleasant reviews for a change

I mean, it's like I buy a hot water bottle last week for £1.00,
and you go into same shop and buy it for £1.99,

then they tryn get me - who bought it last week to stump up the extra 99p!
because the manufacturer of the said hot water bottle put the wholesale prices up!?

Think there is small print that covers the feckers.

• 4.2.2 "Taxes, fees and charges imposed on air travel are constantly
changing and can be imposed after the date that your reservation has
been made. If any such tax, fee or charge is introduced or increased
after your reservation has been made you will be obliged to pay it (or
any increase) prior to departure. Similarly, if any such tax, fee or
charge is abolished or reduced such that it no longer applies to you, or
a lesser amount is due, you will be entitled to claim a refund of the
difference from us."

Note that they automatically pass on an increase but you have to claim a refund in the case where the amount due has decreased

very unfair. They hope you don't claim the refund back
