2 return flights booked ...

Bargin £90 each return thanks to Easyjet, released December flights from Newcastle this afternoon so better half nipped in just in time because they've already gone up !

Had been looking at packages but couldn't decided between AI in Costa Adeje or half board in Las Americas, no there's no hurry to book before package price goes up.

Were torn between the Playa Olid in CA of La Siesta in PDLA 

Cheap flights mean we can widen hotel search and loosen the purse strings a tad.

 

You have got to appreciate when I comment on hotels it is purely from a location / reputation point of view as I don´t have a need to stay in them.

here goes!!   I would not touch the Playa Olid because it is situated next to the motorway so I assume it is noisy.  It looks old fashioned and I would assume it is no more than a 2 or 3 star - if that is the case the food will be rubbish.  It is also a long way from the beach if that is your thing but close to a couple of sex shops - the area is OK but a bit kiss me quick.

La Siesta, on the edge of an upmarket area, plenty to do on the doorstep, close to beach but - I did pop in one night to see some entertainment the words Gods Waiting Room came to mind.  The act was rubbish but there is loads of entertainment venues close by. I would be happy to stay in this location as there are loads of really nice hotels as well as great shopping, plenty of nice restaurants etc at all prices so no need for AI.

That corner of PdlA heading towards LC had always been our favourite place no doubt that's where we'll end up

I have stayed at La Siesta, take the up grade, better rooms and free use of all spa facilities. Expensive for drinks with absolute shite entertainment, but why stay in

Now you are talking, if you were to go AI in the Bitacora you get branded drinks included not just local and the food is supposed to be first class.  Again entertainment - rubbish, snake charmers, magicians and fake flamenco dancers.

Agree some of the entertainment was naff but some was great ,we met a couple from Luxemburg who thought it was fabulous and watched every act before they would go out, as you say M drinks are great no Dorada here only Estrella Galicia, rooms are large and just been refurbished , really looking forward to our stay
