Reported both here in News in the Sun and in DV
Police in Gran Canaria have broken up a gang accused of making and selling fake branded goods.
As well as 40,000 pieces of clothing bearing iconic labels, police also grabbed 10,000 football team strips including Barcelona, Real Madrid and other top flight teams.
All the items were confiscated along with 105,000 transfers, various famous logos and two screen printing machines. Police say the haul is worth around half a million Euros and double that once sold on the street.
In various raids, fourteen people have been arrested, five accused of forgery and a further nine who, police say, were involved in selling the goods in shops and market stalls across Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
As well as goods and machinery, large amounts of cash were also confiscated in the operation, which was the culmination of an investigation that began in April this year.
