Jeez, I was brought up on that stuff in the 60s Gypsy. Jimmy Shand looked ancient there and he lived to 2000!

Content of this thread takes me back a bit, many years back my mates sister and her friend were part of a Scottish country dance group, one New Year they were involved in a hogmanay show at the Salutation Hotel Perth, they were booked in for a couple of nights due to there being no public transport on new years day, but wanted to get home to Edinburgh asap to be involved in new year celebrations. Anyway I’m talked in to picking them up new years day (well I fancied her, and for that matter her mate also), so, her and friend picked up were heading home, it’s a typical Scottish day for the time of year, six or more inches of snow lying, sleety snow falling, minus whatever degrees, fecking miserable,,, then we come across a hitch hiker, feeling sorry for him (we didn’t know he was English at that point) we stopped and picked him up, we had only travelled a mile or so down the road and he cries out “stop”, we wonder what’s wrong, he says “that sign”, we say “what sign”, the one saying Auchtermuchty is it real, he replies,,, we say yeh its real, he says gotta get a picture, so reverse back we do, out he gets, we take picture of him at sign, guys happy as pig in dodo, he thought it was a Mickey Mouse name used in the Broons and Oor Wullie,,, strange species those English...

Oh, and Cam, I know Perth, Edinburgh, Auchtermuchty!!! Don’t ask, well it was new years day, 500 miles etc...
