So a Jack Russel will now be classed as dangerous Another child is killed by a dog 1498946960, I just think its dogs in general that should not be anywhere near a child on its own, Its just asking for trouble, I know some of you will be thinking my dog wouldnt, Well you just cant risk it can you,

Totally agree McQ, especially if you had the dog before you had the child they could feel jealous. Just because it is little Jack Russels are feisty little dogs with a killer instinct.

I had a dog before I had my family and when the first daughter came along the midwife said introduce them, let him see the baby is no threat but until he is totally accepting, dont leave alone. We did this over several weeks and they became the best of friends. In those days you would leave your baby outside a shop in the pram, I used to leave mine with the dog next to it and nobody would get within 6 feet before he growled.

With any pet you don't take chances. A very upsetting story.

It is so sad. My parents got rid of their Jack Russel when I was a baby, as they didn't trust him around me. Previously he'd been loving and well behaved... but he didn't take well to me being in the house.

Our three dogs are all soppy fools with us - but we have never... and would never... EVER leave them unattended with a child. We also get very cross when out and about... and people send their kids over to pet them - do they leave their braincells at home when they come on holiday?

Yes! In the case of mine they look sweet, they are small but it doesn´t nean that a strangers hand, or finger poked in their face doesn´t frighten them and if they were to snap in retaliation it would be their fault. I always tell people with children, to take it slowly, and let me introduce them rather than rushing straight in.
