The largest cheese competition in the world, World Cheese Awards 2012 held in Birmingham on 28th November attracted over 3,000 entries from 34 countries and was judged by over 220 expert buyers from every corner of the globe decided that 18 Canary Island cheeses received awards. These consisted of two super gold, a gold, seven silver and eight bronze medals.
Two wines from Tenerife, the 'Humboldt sweet red 2001' and 'sweet white Humboldt 1997' have obtained the highest score in the 'Penin Guide to the Wines of Spain 2012', which was 95 points, which accredits exceptional wines of Spain. Also in this edition, 13 wines island wines obtained scores between 90 and 94 points.
