TENERIFE MARKETS
Los Cristianos Sunday Market (next to Arona Gran Hotel) – The biggest street market in the south of Tenerife starts 9am – 2.00pm. Stalls filled with leather goods, jewellery, ceramics, clothes, paintings, toys the list is as endless as the rows of traders.
Los Cristianos, A small market has opened up in the lower level next to Banesto Bank (opposite the Cultural Centre). Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday 2pm – 9pm usual clothes, jewellery, books.
Costa Adeje Market (Car park opposite CC El Duque, Avenida Bruselas) – Thursday and Saturday mornings clothes, cosmetics, accessories from Armani to Zanetti you´ll find labels galore, some real and some too good to be true 9am – 2.pm
Los Abrigos Market (Square by the harbour), Tenerife’s only night market which runs from 7pm – 9pm every Tuesday. Clothes, leather goods, bric-a-brac, CDs, jewellery and lots more.
El Médano (Plaza de Principe) – On Saturday mornings you will find Neo-hippies and cool dudes selling handmade jewellery, clothing, African artefacts and all things Bohemian.
Guaza Sunday Market (behind petrol station) – Second hand books, clothes, CDs, DVD’s and videos.
Alcala – The regular Monday morning market has clothing, crafts, costume jewellery, hardware, leather goods, toys and gardening supplies. It’s a lovely little market with lots of local produce and it takes place right in the heart of the village in Plaza del Pueblo.
Playa de San Juan - you will find fruits, vegetables, pastries and quality craftsmanship. Wednesdays 8.00-13.00 Church Square.
The Mercado Nuestra Senora de Africa (African Market) Santa Cruz is a bazaar of over 300 stalls selling fresh local produce. It is a short walk from the bus station close to the pink clock tower, get there as early as possible for the best buys. Daily from 6am – 2pm
Santa Cruz Rastro (by the African Market) – From African drums to Zinnia plants browse the hundreds of stalls in air perfumed with patchouli oil and hot dogs. Not so much a market as a retail experience. Sunday 9am – 1.30pm
Candelaria (Opposite tourist info. office) Av. De Constitucion, Saturday, Sunday and holidays 8am – 9pm, replacing the one in shopping plaza Punta Larga
Cultural Center of Guía de Isora - where you can find quality products at the best prices Saturday 8.00 – 13.00
FARMERS MARKETS IN TENERIFE
Rural Market on first Sunday of the month will take place at The Commercial Centre El Mirador where you can purchase, wines, pastries, honeys and jams in an environment that recreates the traditional architecture of the island.
Adeje (Beside Makro on Calle Archara, Barranco de la Torres, Adeje) Saturday and Sunday from 8am – 2pm. Shop like the locals. Stock up on fruit, veg, cheeses and wines and whatever else the local farmers bring to market that day.
Arico, Calle Benitez de Lijo, Sunday 8am – 1pm
Candelaria (Opposite the tourist info. office) Av. De Constitucion Wednesday 5pm - 9pm
El Medano and Granadilla - Thursday at the Square of Granadilla, and Tuesdays in the Plaza of El Medano from 8:00 to 14:00.
El Rosario Plaza del Ayuntamiento Saturday & Sunday 8am – 4pm
El Sauzal Calle Constitución, Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 1pm & 5pm – 7.30pm; Friday 8.30am – 1.30pm & 4.30pm – 7.30pm; Saturday & Sunday 8am – 2pm
Güímar Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Saturday 8am – 1pm
Guia de Isora (Main Square) - Take your pick of fresh fruit and vegetables galore, homemade cakes and handmade crafts and trinkets Saturday 9am – 1pm.
Las Chafiras (next to Bomberos) - Saturday, Sunday 8am – 2pm and Wednesday afternoons from 1.30pm. Excellent selection of fresh produce and home-made crafts there is also a coffee shop and children’s play area close to the site.
La Guancha between Puerto de la Cruz & Icod Saturday & Sunday 8am - 3pm
La Laguna Plaza San Francisco, Saturday 7am - 3pm daily & 5pm - 8pm on Thursday. This is one of Tenerife’s big big markets.
La Matanza TF217 Saturday & Sunday from 8am - 3pm Another big, buzzing market that has handicrafts and books as well as fresh food.
La Orotava Calle Educadora Lucía Mesa Saturday from 8am - 1pm
Puerto de la Cruz (Avenida Blas Perez Gonzalez First floor of the Mercado Municipal, part of the shopping centre) Daily except Sundays 9am – 2pm. There’s usually plenty of parking in the underground, except Saturdays when they also have a Flea Market. A mix of new and second-hand goods, books, clothes and ornaments.
Santa Cruz - Nuestra Señora de Africa Avenida San Sebastián 300 stalls ensure you will find lots more than fruit and veg. Daily from 6am – 3pm.
San Isidro (just off motorway junction) Saturday & Sunday from 8am - 2pm get here early to find a parking spot as this is very popular.
San Miguel de Abona Poligono Industrial Las Chafiras Wednesday 4pm – 8pm Saturday & Sunday 8am to 2pm.
Santiago del Teide Town centre Saturday & Sunday 8am – 3pm.
Tegueste Behind the petrol station on the road leading from Tegueste to La Laguna. Saturday & Sunday 8.30am – 2pm. A mix of handicrafts, food and wine stalls.
Tacoronte one of the most bustling farmers’ markets in Tenerife. Over 125 stalls sell local produce of a much higher quality than found in the large supermarkets. Open 8am - 2:30pm Saturday and Sunday.
