    In 1975 Chancellor Denis Healey announced that the treasury would adopt the US billion,but to me its still a million million,don't remember voting for the change?

    hmm i thought a billion was 9 zeroes i.e. a thousand million but what betty posted rings a bell too
    i wonder if the author of the article means the former?
    it doesn't make sense for it to cos 0.5 mil a head considering not everyone in the country will use it (but then does it make sense for £500 by the same principle?)

    How does it make sense at £500, if you use the train, YOU pay for it... or ok Mr train commuter, you going to subsidise my car...

    I apologise MM misread it, sorry, but it’s a total waste of money in my opinion everyone knows were going to have transporter bays within the next twenty years as in Star Trek, now don’t laugh, remember when Kirk would flip open his phone and speak to other crew members.... I rest my case...
