Bet you I know what happened to that "floating" pole. The poling gang had to renew a defective pole and they've dug a hole next to the defective pole and erected a new pole beside it. Using the new pole to stand on, they have attempted to saw the old pole down in small sections. Normally where an aerial cable goes through a hook or roller it should be tightly bound in with binding wire. There is no binding wire as far as I can see on the aerial cable and the pole has just run down the aerial cable to mid span! (They should have disconnected the aerial cable before cutting the old pole though).

I saw a lovely pill-box in Thetford forest recently, all covered in snow it was. Would have taken a photo for you lads cos I know you're all interested but alas no camera. Dont think its gonna last long though cos workmen are duelling the A11 right next to it. The Telegraph Pole Appreciation Society 2681204924
