Pole markings deciphered...


BT = British Telecom (Could also show GPO or PO).
Horizontal line is 3m or 10 feet from the bottom of the pole. (This lets you know how far in the ground the pole is)
9M= Pole is a 9 meter Medium thickness pole. (Pre metric will have 24L or similar, meaning 24 feet Light thickness)
95=Date the pole was preserved with creosote or similar.(Usually the same year pole was erected in ground)
1I= Inspector's mark.

Janets pretty good with cars, I wouldnt say full on, But can spot a problem from a few yards, Keen ear too, Thats missing or on 3 as she says, But telegraph poles ? she knows feck all, But i can feel a bit of training coming on, I shall nip out and take a picture on my phone and study it later,
