Would anyone know if it compulsory to wear safety helmets in the Canaries when cycling a PUSHBIKE? And if it is, is the law enforced?

As of July last year (2012), legislation had not gone through, according to the European Cyclists Federation...Link

But looking at those who are riding bikes on Sidewalks and Urban Streets, it doesn´t seem to be enforced

Wonder how much the cycling safety helmet manufacturers are lobbying/paying politicians to get this one through...
Soon you won’t be allowed to get out of bed without your hard hat, safety boots, protective gloves, ear defenders, safety goggles and yellow vest on...
