    A man has been arrested on suspicion of starting the fire which broke out in Cala Llonga, Ibiza, on Sunday evening and which forced hundreds of people to be evacuated from their homes in the Roca Llisa urbanisation in Santa Eulàra des Riu.

    It’s an which is popular with foreign residents, particularly the British.

    The evacuees were allowed back home on Monday afternoon after the blaze was brought under control. One property was completely destroyed by the flames and another four were damaged.

    The fire affected 115 hectares of land. The risk level has now been brought down from a Level 2 emergency to Level 0, as 100 personnel remained working at the scene on Tuesday to extinguish the fire.

    All that is known about the man who is thought to have set the blaze is that he is 36 years old and that he has been in Civil Guard custody since his arrest on Monday afternoon
