Will post photos too
My husband and I spent a week on the island between 5 and 12 May 2013.
I admit upfront this was our first trip to Maldives so we cannot compare it to other resorts but we were extremely happy.
On arriving at Male airport we did have about an hour wait on the speedboat and it seems we may have missed one so make sure you are on the lookout for someone with a sign for your resort as they don't always shout and there are a lot of people all going different places so it can be difficult to keep a track of where you need to be and when.
I read reviews before I went that mentioned the resort was untidy and rubbish bags were left lying around. We did not experience this and gardening staff were out at all times of the day raking up leaves. They were very pleasant and always said hello and asked how our day was going. A couple of times they offered to climb the trees to get us coconuts.
You are given a set table and waiter in the restaurant for the duration of your stay.
All meals are a buffet but your waiter is always on hand for drinks or anything else you may need. Be sure to tell them if you are celebrating as they will also decorate your table for you - a very nice touch. Very good variety of food on offer both vegetarian and meat/fish based.
The housekeeping staff clean the room morning and night and we did not have any trouble with insects.
In addition to the outside shower there is also a bath and overhead shower which is sheltered. However I would not recommend using the shower if you can help it (as it is now rainy season we had to use it a couple of times) as there is no shower curtain so the floor can get very slippery when wet.
Beach towels are provided in your room and changed each day.
There is also a combination safe in your room where you pick your own pin number to lock and unlock although reception will also hold your valuables if you prefer.
Remember to take small denominations of cash for tipping as this is customary in Maldives although it is at your discretion. Everything else is added to your room account which is then paid on checkout (or the night before if you will be leaving before 12:00PM on the day of departure). This can be paid in cash or by card.
The surf area at Lohis is fantastic to sit at as there is a very good breeze and you can watch the world go by while being sheltered and refreshed from the bar.
The spa staff are very friendly and make sure you are completely at ease. Listening to the ocean while all your cares are massaged away is a wonderful experience.
One downside is that as not all villas are on the beach, you may find that there are not enough loungers outside your villa as other people have come down to the beach before you and placed towels on them.
Some people do take their loungers up to their villas which is ok if you are actually going to use them but it can be very frustrating seeing loungers out of use but 'reserved'.
The pool was out of use due to maintenance.
We were offered compensation but make sure if this is still the case, you get written confirmation from the travel company as proof as there was a mix-up with ours and it took almost the full week to be sorted out.
Other than that a very good holiday and I would likely return to this resort.
