Last time I was up in Scotland you could get 24 x 440ml of Tenants lager for £10 in Tesco, that’s just under 42p a can or just under 24p a unit...
More recently in England, Asda had a promotion on Carlsberg lager, again 440ml cans, 12 for £7, that’s just over 53p a can or approx 33½p per unit, but you got a £5 voucher off the next purchase (£2 for 12), so that was 16½p a can approx or 9½p per unit, combine it so it equates to 24 cans for £9, that’s 37½p a can or 21½p a unit, but you got another £5 voucher so it goes on and on........
Didn’t drink any more, just stocked up for Christmas, sensible dwinker me...
This weekend best deal in Asda was 20 Fosters 440ml cans for £15, that’s 75p a can or almost 43p a unit,,, (crap)...
Scottish proposal of 50p a unit will equate to £21 for 24 pack.
Note:-
For calculations I used the following, a 440ml can of 4% lager equates to 1.75 units (24 cans = 42units).
Oh, local charge £2.80 a pint (568ml or 2.3 units), so that equates to £1.24 a unit.....................
Now that’s why I drink...
