Ocean Golf and Country Club
Have just found what seems to be a great deal for the above in Golf del Sur. I've never been so would anyone ( Vince in particular) be able to advise on the area. I have already seen the reviews on Trip Advisor ( to which Gypsy contributed) and it seems fine. Eileen is concerned about noise from airplanes but this would only be during the day ( is this correct?) Apparently, we would only be a ten minute walk from the San Blas CC and a further 5 min to Los Abrigos?? What are the restaurants and pubs like etc?

It is smack bang in the middle of the urban zone so easy to get anywhere on the Golf. Planes are further to the North but only half a mile so, you will still see/hear them. Not intrusive though. Aberdeen Angus steak house out the front for your €1 pint!

Re: Ocean Golf and Country Club
We stay on the golf in Winter for a month or more Dermo , the planes are never an issue, the thing that would bother me would be the bairns, not a lot for them to do , but you know your bairns better than anyone and will know their likes /dislikes, personally we love it , nice and quiet ,no trouble, and enough good restaurants to please most people, as you say handy for Los Abrigos, El Medano etc, I think you and your missus would love it ,it is a very nice area and the locals ,Canarian and ex-pats are all very freindly

Re: Ocean Golf and Country Club
Vince and Bill, thanks a million. I'll show the apartment (here) to Eileen when she wakes up and see what she says but I think we'll go for it! I'd definitely be interested in the €1 pint and as regards the kids, anywhere with a pool table and wifi, and they are happy as pigs in shit

Re: Ocean Golf and Country Club
Looks like that ones on the first floor Dermot, a bird I know had one on the top floor, stunning views. Very accommodating she was, .
Borders the bottom of the golf course. Buses here to Los Abrigos and El Medano, Granadilla and Santa Cruz. Las Galletas, Los Cristianos and Las Americas the other way. Cheap as chips with Bono Card. Mercadona Supermarket 1 mile at Las Chafiras with a Lidl on other side of the motorway. Plenty of pool tables and wifi about. Kids will find some mates. Hardly any sand on the beach but plenty of the stuff at El Medano, its even yellow! Lots of water sports there too due to it always being windy, lovely on a hot day. Weather a bit unpredictable but sunny most days at least most of the time, often clouds over in the afternoon and then clears again by tea time. Sundowners Bar on Green Park where I drink less than half a mile away, beer is 1.50 all the time there, open til 2am.

Re: Ocean Golf and Country Club
Vince, the management company told me that there is a laundrette next door. This might seem like a stupid question, but how do they operate i.e. can I go in, throw a load into a machine and collect it an hour later or is there a service wash available? ( I haven't used a laundrette in 20 years! )

You'll get one in a shop in the airport Dermo. Can't remember the name but it's got a "Z" in it...
