Thought Jesmond Dene was a person I had never heard of so googled it, know what it is now, but still none the wiser as to the name...

Your last photo, ah, that brought back sad memories, was up in Edinburgh a few years back, the six nations was on, in a pub watching one of the games, pub had a promotion on, Duuchers IPA 99p a pint, couldn't stomach the stuff, ended up paying £3 odd a pint, all my mates got hammered (as did Scotland) for less than a third of the price of me,,, so so sad...

Don't know where the "Jesmond" came from but this explains the "Dean" bit...wiki

Yeah I looked there to, had heard of the Dene bit in the it's used, but as said I initially thought I was going to come up with some famous person who had lived in the house...

Look HERE for the history but I saw this bit that relates to the area of Jesmond .... Jesmond had been known as Gese Muth “the mouth of the Ouse” while afterwards it was known as Jesmond or “the hill of Jesus”.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesmond

Thought it might have been named after someone famous, not a religious cult leader...
