I often wondered how so many pub workers used to drive home steaming in Tenerife! There'd be a lot of them with no licence if they were back in UK!

Heard a terrible racket of revving engine and crunching of gearbox cogs outside the pub once. Went outside and this bloke had his left foot hard on the brake and trying to select reverse. 'Somefings wrong here Vince'. Now thats what I call steaming. I drove his car home for him, he only lived 200 yards away.

Spanish Law on Road Safety considers drink driving as a very serious offence (scale is: light, serious, very serious), leading to fines of between 300 and 600 EUR plus the license withdrawal for a maximum period of 3 months.
So it is just another way to collect money

Old skool...........200 yards as the crow flies but not as the drunk walks. To be honest I wouldnt want to walk down my road sober, highly dangerous. 60 mph, uneven (very) surface.

Gypsy, I think if you get caught 3 times in one year they will take your licence away, possibly permanently. Although this may have changed recently. A Spanish guy I know got locked up for it. Still got a license though. Just different culture innit.
