The Catholic Church in this country has a lot to answer for. Just when we thought we were coming to the end of the paedophile saga, news broke today of even more disturbing revelations. This happened in a home set up for unmarried mothers. Btw, there were more than 20 of these homes around the country. This story is from one.......so far

Many years ago before all this child abuse stuff got into the news there was a scandal in Canada , hundreds of baby corpses were discovered near a convent in Quebec , they found an underground passageway that connected the convent to a nearby abbey and they were at it like rabbits, most of the bodies were new born and were killed at birth, great thing religion. not

Turns out some of these homes had infant mortality rates of 50%+. Also, the babies were subjects of pharmaceutical trials without the consent of the mothers. Most were put up for adoption, again, the mothers weren't given a choice. And the latest is that the bodies of the dead babies weren't buried in the mass graves immediately, they were "sold" to university medical department for use by medicine students to dissect etc and were ultimately buried a couple of years later when the bodies were of no further use ( presumably the skeletons and organs were dissected to the point of destruction)

Heard an author of a book on these "Mother and Baby" homes say, he expects to find up to 400 more bodies on ground outside of the actual site as stillborn babies were'nt baptised and couldn't be buried on consecrated ground. Don't know how anyone could think of septic tanks as being consecrated. The author is also certain that the babies were starved to death as their mothers were only allowed feed them 2 or 3 times a day and the mothers, you must remember, were malnourished themselves while being worked to the bone. These "homes" were described on radio as essentially irish gulags. The religious order who ran the homes made a fortune off the back of these mothers, so much so, that they own one of the biggest private hospital groups in the US and Ireland. They have offered 2.5 million towards the 30 million+ cost of the investigation

It actually means that Mary was preserved from original sin by God at the moment of HER conception. Still a load of blox though...
