The Palms, Golf Del Sur
We are looking at a bungalow in The Palms, ( the complex next to Las Adelfas where Grandee O Donnell's is), in GDS. The bungalow itself looks stunning. I know Gypsy stayed there a number of years ago and found the airplane noise to be an issue. We stayed in the Ocean Club this summer and never even heard the planes once we were indoors. If Vince could let me know, does the plane noise bother him ( I know he would have a few pints onboard but so would I ) and Cam, can you remember if the noise ( either planes or traffic) bothered you in Las Adelfas??

D, I mentioned this to Jim whose memory is better than mine he said he didn´t like the planes but there was no road noise at all even when in the bedroom which was on the main road side of the complex.

We are down to a choice between the Palms in GDS ( 710 euro and stunning bungalow from the photos) or El Marques Palace in Puerto Santiago which looks very nice but busier than the first one. El marques is 1000 euro

Re: The Palms, Golf Del Sur
Most planes approach the airport over the sea on most days ,we never noticed them while we stayed there.
Dermot ! have you ever considered an apart hotel? maid service daily, restaurant, bar, reception, laundrette if needed, no cleaning or bed making, clean towels and bed linen when needed, we found that living in a private hire wasn't like being on holiday, this way you just pack the cases and check out.
This is just my personal opinion so don.t want a war of words

We had a Christmas dinner with TD, Jan and Albert in El Marques last year. The food was nice, plenty of it but hardly anyone there. It is a nice complex and as long as you are young and fit the hill won´t kill you.

Re: The Palms, Golf Del Sur
Did you stay in the Palms Bill?? They were coming in straight over the hotel between Green Park and Pack Albatross this summer. Tbh, I was more worried about noise from the road but Gypsy has eased that a bit.searcher wrote:Most planes approach the airport over the sea on most days ,we never noticed them while we stayed there.

El Marques Palace is an aparthotel Bill.. Just dont know if it would be worth the extra 300 quid. We like the privacy of the private lets, and they tend not to be too busy so you can actually get a sun lounger at the pool without having to get up at 09:00 to grab one.

Meant to say, I think the Palms is now a hotel as well. At least they have a bar and restaurant and reception.

I got used to the planes when I was in Las Adelfas before the day was out! Never noticed them after that.

I was on a golfing holiday when I stayed at Las Adelfas, so it was ideal for me.Adam Mint wrote:Been around a most of Tenerife, only ever stayed PDLA or Los Cris, nowhere else in my book, yip lots of places ok for a day visit, but as a holiday base, no...

Was your apartment near the road? Have to say the planes didn't bother me either this year

We have Whacky Backy birds otherwise known as Sheerwaters, they are really noisy, dog farted the otherday too and got us denounced for noise.

Re: The Palms, Golf Del Sur
Depends a bit where on the complex you are, if you are on the South side you will see a pretty green light on the starboard wing, if you are on the North side you will see a red one. In other words they go straight over the top. You soon get used to them though, if I shut the patio doors I can barely hear them at all and lets face it its not a busy airport now is it. Big Russian one once a week makes a hell of a racket as do the occasional military jets. More disturbing is listening to people bonking....

I was thinking about this. The apartment we had last month was on the first floor and had 2 other apartments above it to deaden the noise. This bungalow doesn't. Feck it, a few pints at night and I wont hear anything
