    Loro Parque Empty Loro Parque

    Post by Daryn Mon 22 Sep 2014 - 14:49

Couldnt wait for our trip to Loro Parque, it was about 1.5 hours from Playa De Las Americas on a coach.

The first thing we saw was an amazing pond ful of Koi

    Loro Parque SAM_0787

The Park has been well planned out and the grounds are amazing

    Loro Parque SAM_0788

They have tried to replicate the wild as best as they can and I can say they have done a really good job.

    Loro Parque SAM_0789

The penguin enclosure is like nothing I have seen before, its an amazing thing to see.

    Loro Parque SAM_0790

Its all built inside and temperature controlled, you have to see it to believe it.

    Loro Parque SAM_0791

No its not a dodgy camera shot, in this section they replicate the temperature and the light as it would be in the wild, they dont get any sun light for months on end and this zoo try to give that natural feel to the animals.

    Loro Parque SAM_0793

You can even see snow dropping its fantastic

The Orcas this is why most people visit this amazing zoo.

    Loro Parque SAM_0800

I loved seeing these beasts in real life but also felt a little sad, its not natural and when you think these beasts swim thousands of miles around the oceans its hard to see how they manage to live life in a pool. Its one of them things you just have to go and see them but I would rather see them in the wild.

This tiger never moved all day, I was wondering if it was real lol. I thought this enclose was far too small for this magnificent beast.

    Loro Parque SAM_0811

Now this is what I was looking forward too, giant tortoises they were awesome, would be amazing to see what they have seen throughout their long lives.

    Loro Parque SAM_0812

WOW this was amazing sight for me I love these creatures.

Again a beautiful dolphin pool, everyon was wondering where they came from, they seemed to appear from underneath the pool so must have a separate pool

I absolutely loved this, it was a huge bird enclosure with a tree top walk. It give you an idea of how it would be in a tropical rain forest.

Well done Daryn. I have to say I much prefer Loro Parque to Jungle Park. Agree with you re the Orcas ( and dolphins)

Loro is a good zoo but the reptile house was naff, I was really disappointed with that bit.

I really liked the jungle park it was a great place to wander around and not far, hell I even enjoyed the bus into the hills lol. But the large cat enclosure was shiiiiiiiiiiiiiite

Great shame that some animals in captivity can´t be held in better conditions

Totally agree its such a shame, maes me sad and guilty when I pay to go to some of these parks.

This reminds me has anyone been watching the tv series about the guy that started a zoo, its very interesting and a true story
